Brokeback Mountain

Has anyone seen it? So much controversy and I've yet to speak to anyone whose seen it to find out if it's any good. Movies cost so much now days controversy is not enough of a reason for me to drop my $8. I need to know it's actually a good flick. Anyone gone? Anyone known anyone who saw it?Anyone else waiting for a review?

My daughter and I are supposed to go next week.....

Neither one of us could find a man willing to go and I wonder why;).....as I told my buddy Smitty. It is not Bareback Mountain and there is no audience participation required. Makes me laugh because if it was about two women he wouldn't have a problem :)

Lilith 01-14-2006 09:20 PM

I know. It's crazy. I am not sure Mr. Lil wants to go and all my girlfriends are prudes :D

Fangtasia 01-14-2006 09:27 PM

I'm gonna go as soon as we get a screening date...we have been assured it wont be banned here

A couple of places in Oz have banned the screening...total censorship crap if ya ask me....if ya dont wanna see it dont bloodywell go!

Telling me i cant see it cause the prudes have got their knickers in a knot quite frankly pisses me the hell off

I bet that once this movie goes to dvd it will become one of the top sellers ever. LOL

Of course it will be ordered online and come in a plain brown wrapper ;)

I saw it. I've been following the production of this movie since like March.

But. It was fantastic. So very very good. But bring tissues. I've always had a thing for gay men, but that didn't sway me. This was a beautiful love story, it was wonderfully acted, and the scenery was just gorgeous. I don't think there was a character portrayed in this movie that I didn't think was greatly done. It is definitely worth the movie you shell out to see it.

BIBI 01-14-2006 09:43 PM

Well now I really can't wait.....

thanks for the review :)

Lilith 01-14-2006 09:44 PM

Excellent!

FallenAngel5 01-14-2006 09:46 PM

No problem :) I hope everyone sees this movie, and I can't wait for it to come to DVD.

And don't forget your tissues... I cried for like the last half hour.

Sounds like a "chick flic" with gay cowboys, 2 good reasons why no hetro male will voluntarily go see it...now if it was about cowboys blowing the crap out of everything & everybody, you might draw a manly crowd ;)

It's amazing. Proulx is an unreal writer & Lee gave it his all. Drop your money!!!

dreamgurl 01-15-2006 10:05 AM

Sadly still living in the strict Bible belt has prevented the movie from playing here, and the guy I'm dating ( not sure if I could use the boyfriend word for him yet, I don't know how he feels) even said he'd go, granted he's going on the fact that the movie causes me to be all flustered. LMAO I do feel the same as Bibi that if it were two women that there would be absolutely no problem with it among the prudish masses.

Coaster 01-15-2006 10:42 AM

You ladies are absolutely right........ 2 women having fun with life, I'd be first in line........but I hate having to open up the umbrella to keep the gushers from geting me soaked!!

Going to see 2 guys too in touch with their feminine side just isn't getting my $$...... even in rental........ sorry, I just want to escape at movies and be entertained, not come out of it more depressed than when I went in to see it!

osuche 01-15-2006 11:56 AM

It's playing here, but Mr. Osuche and I are hesitant to shell otu the $10/person for a movie...and he isn't into this one either. :D

As for me....it's about COWBOYS. I have gay friends and well.....I must admit I kinda like gay porn (well, some of it)....but I don't want to have a new version of what cowboys do on the range, while the deer and the antelope play, floating around in my head. I might never look at cowboys and masculinity the same way again. <sigh>

I guess my MidWestern preconceptions are getting in the way.

Lilith 01-15-2006 07:55 PM

I found this and well it belongs here :D I might just have to give one a try ;)
