Transitions — Coretta Scott King
 

The widow of the late Dr. King died in her sleep last night. She was 78 years old.

She met her future husband (then a doctoral candidate at Boston University's School of Theology) in Boston in 1951, while enrolled at Boston's New England Conservatory of Music where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree.

Mrs. King, the founding president of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, carried on her husband's work after he was assassinated in 1968.

What a great lady she was. May she rest in peace.
