I join you in hoping for the best for all those in Glenda's way.

It seems that down-under is going to have as interesting storm season as we had last year. :( I hope our disaster (natural and human incompetence) will let the people AND the responsible authorities pay attention to your scientists.

We do not have any known Pixie members in the north of Western Oz, only a couple from a long while back that was on the south coast. I hope all lives are effected in the minimum.

Glenda...wasn't that one of the good witches from Wizard of Oz? If so, hope she's a good to Oz this time around.

If she was, then we have them all now.

That section of coast seems to be Oz's Cyclone Alley.

It's sparsely populated by any standard, but the poor buggers that live there

have a lot to put up with.

Sugarsprinkles 03-29-2006 06:46 PM

Prayers for all those who will be affected.

Makes me wonder if that's part of the reason it's sparsely populated...sounds like the few that live there may be well adapted to the tough conditions...wussies don't tend to stick around under duress...

still, I hope for the best for any in the path of the Furies...

Kinda sounds like Florida in the 1950's. Should we blame the portable air conditioner makers for not telling the Aussies or blame them for telling the Yanks?

Nah, that part of the country's what I imagine Baja to be like, dry, sparse and completely inhospitable.

If it wasn't for the resources and some minor support infrastructure for the indigenous folks, it would be as deserted as the Gobi on mid-summers noon.

Except for the humidity, so was the marsh with the fountain of youth. lol

(Ponce de Leon stayed for less than six months. ;) )

Oldfart 03-31-2006 01:02 AM

Haven't thought of old Ponce for years.

We are actually coming to the end of our cyclone season Oct-Apr, and it is a beautiful part of Australia, the only problem is it takes 4 hours to find a petrol station and it is stinking hot, to get relief from the heat you can swim with the bloody crocks in Fitzroy river
