...for a moment of silence: The co-inventor of the TV remote, Robert Adler, has died. Adler, who won an Emmy Award along with fellow engineer Eugene Polley for the device that made the couch potato possible, died Thursday of heart failure at a Boise nursing home at 93, Zenith Electronics Corp. said Friday. |
I think he may have changed the world more than any of us are willing to admit.
|
He certainly gave control freaks everywhere our moment of glory...

i heard this on npr on saturday. he had something like 175 patents and just received another recently for something to do with touch-screens.
rest in peace mr adler...along with mr polley, your brainchild has made millions of couch commandos (if not advertisers) very happy. |
That invention was the reason I loved going to my aunt's house when I was a little kid. I thought the remote was the coolest damn thing I'd ever seen. Now it's the first thing I grab for on days when I don't have morning wood.
RIP Mr. Adler. |
