Old habits die hard...

I'm just curious... :corn:

Do any of you have any habits that you'd LOVE to be able to break but just can't? Something you feel compelled to do and just won't stop? Even though you know you shouldn't do it?

Inquiring minds want to know.....

Er....eating chocolate, procrastinating, watching TV, committing to things that I'm too busy to do, telling my Mum that I 'might' do something which basically means I'm then committed to doing it......oh I could go on and on!

my snacking before bed time.

When I was younger, it was no big deal, the old metabolism could handle it. Now that I'm not as young as I USED to be, (that phrase still bothers me) it shows when I do it.

I'm proud of myself for cutting back, but in all honesty, I need to completely stop.

I also need to exercise more...........but that I can't manage to do much of either.

Sorry for getting off topic here at the end.

My first instinct was to say that breathing is a habit I'd like to break but I don't do that very well so I guess I'm well on my way to that one.

I guess the one that really sticks out in my mind is paying bills. I'm terrible at it. I get a bill and I'll write the check for it right away but I won't mail the damn thing until it's just about due, or sometimes even later. :yikes:

Hmmmm, I notice you pose the question but don't offer up any answer of your own osuche?

I have an oral fixation. I chew my lips, the insides of my cheeks, my cuticles (not my nails, or at least not much), my pens, everything I can get into my mouth. I've never ever tried smoking because I know my mouth would love it too much.

Hi nutworld :D

Procrastinating, sticking to my diet, and biting my nails are what I would love to stop doing.

My insatiable, sexual appetite habit is something I think I will hang on to. :D

scotzoidman 04-12-2007 11:54 AM

Like a lot here, I should probably quit smoking.

I can't think of any other habits I should break, except maybe murdering mimes & chopping up their bodies...

oops, did I say that out loud?

WildIrish 04-12-2007 01:03 PM

I struggle hard not to chew my lips. I crack my knuckles, though not as much as I used to.

And I do this funny little breathing thing. It's impossible to explain, but apparently very annoying to the only person that's ever noticed. lol

Coming here to pixies, and like Tess, sex whenever...but I don't want to break those habits....

I'd have to say procrastinating........

osuche 04-12-2007 04:18 PM

I need to stop chewing my nails and cuticles and fingers...anything I can get my teeth on. I think I have Neige's habit there. ;)

I'd also like to curb my cravings for spicy food...the spicier the better...it's a real problem/obsession for me.

IowaMan 04-12-2007 05:21 PM

You know, I guess I too am a knuckle cracker. Most of the time I don't even realize that I'm doing it.

Jude30 04-12-2007 05:24 PM

I wish I could quit biting my nails. My wife stopped gnawing on hers and I stopped for a few months years ago but started again.

I tend to make impulse purchases while standing in line at the grocery store. It's as if my mind is overtaken by the chocolate demons and before I know it I have at least one candy bar in my cart. Every single time I eat whatever chocolate I just bought before I even start the car. I don't do it every single time but I'm gonna say it's probably a good 60-70% of the time I go shopping.
