My country?
|
Nonsense.
One of the more entertaining aspects of this brouhaha is that Mr. Libby, whose sentence has been commuted by President Bush, once represented Marc Rich, whose racketeering conviction was pardoned by President Clinton. |
What TOTAL BLAINTENT fucking corruption! |
Nonsense.
If you want to look at corruption, take a look at what happened when Jack Quinn, President Clinton's former White House counsel, took Marc Rich as a client. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, the Anti-Defamation League and, ahem, Democratic fundraiser Denise Rich submitted letters through Quinn to Clinton, requesting a pardon. Denise Rich contributed about $400,000 to the Clinton presidential library. She gave over $1 million to Democratic campaigns in the Clinton era and at least $70,000 to Hillary Clinton's U.S. Senate race as well as $10,000 to the President's legal defense fund. Guess who received a pardon in the last days of the Clinton Administration? Marc Rich, that’s who. Now that’s corruption. This? Poo! Doesn't even show up as a blip on the radar. :) |

... although this line of argument has, of course, nothing to do with the "corruption" referred to above. :) |

The nonsense here is that Scooter Libby was the one pegged to fall on his own sword, because he was stupid enough to get caught lying about what he knew & when he knew it. The grave injustice is not that he will not go to jail for his crime, but that the true culprit(s) in this whole matter have already been outed, and none of them will ever be punished

I can't help but notice that the Dark Lord who orchestrated the whole affair still resides comfortably in his office at the EEOB. Trust me, if a poor slob like me had revealed the name of a US intelligence operative, I would be under the jail right now. Just another example of how our blessed Commander-in-Chief sees two sets of laws, one for cronies & another for the rest of us...especially if we might disagree with him. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely |
PF may be right ... Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is a total disgrace ... it's only too bad his mom took him to full term. Talk about a total jerk.
And, it's true. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely ... like with Clinton. |
Why is anyone showing any surprise?
Politicians live in a different world which unfortunately sometimes intersects with ours. |
Surprise ≠ Shame, Infuriation, Betrayal, Humiliation, Exasperation, Disgust
