Ball girls are pretty common in MLB since the Astros have them too.

I hear they are treated like celebrities in places like Thailand or India.

Why do the words girls and balls go together like peaches and cream don't?

The operators of each respective venue containing a Major League Baseball Team employs people to staff the venue, mostly for concessions and fan management. Some have sign up lists which give young ladies within specific upper and lower age limits an opportunity to gain an assignment to occupy the 'Ballgirl' position for a specific games or games. The seasonal competition start at the sign up window. Contact the Major League Baseball Team venue that you want to work at for the details you'll need to go to the correct sign up location.

I join you in sighing and may I suggest a soak in the hot tub to get over our disappointment?
