At 10:00 this morning...
 

I'm closing the chapter on another part of my life today and it's got me a little sad.

Most of you know that I changed jobs a year ago, and was retained by my old one on a consulting basis. That location is selling today, and I won't be there anymore. It's a good thing (for the property, and also for me...because I've really been burning myself out trying to properly take care of everything at both jobs), but it's a sad day for me as well because I really do care about the site. I also care about the people, and I really enjoyed working there.


Am I the only one that formulates such an emotional attachment to jobs?

I had emotional ties to some of the peoples I worked with at my previous job...I changed jobs 2 yrs ago now. I still miss some of the people...and used to go visit. But, things at that previous job have gone down hill SO much for even the employees still there, I don't go now. Everyone there is miserable in their jobs. I'm finally glad I'm not one of them anymore....but I do, still miss all the people who I formed such strong attachments to.

Yeah... I'm the same as ShadowDancer..... I miss the everyday relationships with former co-workers. I don't usually miss the job though..... or i wound't have left it.

Things happen for a reason WI........ something even more rewarding for you is around the corner!

Every ending is also a new beginning. Cherish the past, but keep your eyes on the future.

If you don't form an emotional bond with your job, it's only temporary.

I've stayed in jobs far too long because of emotional connection.

Not me. I never get emotionally invested at work.

I like a lot of the people I work with, and my job actually isn't that bad. The only part I really hate is when people who have no clue about what is really going on tries to interfere. Unfortunately, there is a huge gap between upper management and those of us on the floor doing the job. Makes me wish there was at least one day a year where they had to help with the grunt work. I do understand where you are coming from WI. There is something very comforting working in the same place for long periods of time.

I miss some of the people I used to work with...others, not so much (or AT ALL!!!) . If I ever show signs of emotional attachment to the printing industry. someone here be a pal, and KILL ME...now, PLEASE?!?!?! :banghead:

Haven't had an emotional attachment that I can remember. Guess the right job hasn't come along.

I was emotionally attached to my job, until the company booted out my boss for the stupidest of reasons. I now have no loyalty to this company and will use them until I decide it's time to move on, or they do to me what I've seen them do to others. I am very attached to my employees. Most of them call me mom and if by some wondrous chance I should win the 170 million dollar lottery tonight, I'm taking them all with me. :)

I quit working for the state four years ago this coming April. I still miss that job. I liked the hours, I loved the actual job, I liked the people I worked with, and if I stayed I probably would have been promoted. At the time I changed jobs though we just couldn't make ends meet with me in that job.

I know money isn't everything, and you shouldn't make decisions based solely on money, but you also have to eat.

I may enjoy working with the people, and not mind the actual work, but if I won the lottery and it was enough for me to live on the rest of my life, you better damn well bet I'm quitting. If you've every seen the movie Half-Baked I want to quit the way the guy in the burger joint did.
