Rejected . . .wtf?

A certain well-known story site recently rejected one of my stories for "poor grammar", namely for ending speech quotes with the comma outside the quotation marks rather than inside. For about 3 instances. They also cited paragraphs that were too long (makes it difficult for some readers to follow, apparently; diddums!) and No Tags!! I mean, What the Actual Fuck?!?! I've never tagged any of my stories, there or anywhere else, and they'e rejecting it for that? :hair:

Incidentally, it's an older story of mine (this one in fact) which I've had published on another site with no issue.

Question is, are they correct to reject it for such reasons? They made great play of correct grammar, good spelling etc, but having tried to read many stories on there which were simply unintelligible, I have to wonder at their pedantry on this occasion.

Anyway, I've made (some of) the corrections they wanted, so we'll see what happens.

N.B. This isn't a ploy to get anyone to read my story btw, though obviously oyu can if you'd like! ;) DM

Have they recently changed the terms and agreements for posting stories? Older posts might be grandfathered in so to speak.....

I don't think so LS. If they have it must have been very recent, as I posted a new story only a couple of weeks ago which had no tags and long-ish paragraphs.

If they don't accept it this time, I won't bother trying again. Their loss.

I think it was probably a bunch of old lady prudes rejecting it. It was probably too hot for them. Got them all flustered.... and wet..... and they didn't know what to do, so they rejected your story.

I betcha they kept a copy for future umm.. . future scientific study.

I take it you read it then Teddy? ;)

Kind words indeed, for which I thank you.

Amazing the difference the moving of a few commas (and a wee bit of a rant in the comments section!) can have, isn't it? Better go and check the sequel before I submit it I guess. My public demands it, it appears. Pity there isn't a part three . . .

Yes, congrats for sure.

Nothing says there can't be a part three.

There is scope for me to write a part 3, for sure; it's finding the time! I'm still writing another for a lady who is very special and dear to me, which may never see the light of day. Unless she wishes it to. I'm enjoying writing it very much, but not getting anywhere near the time I'd like at the moment.
