A Lot of Things Different

I am in a nostalgic mood tonight... main catalyst being that I received an email several days ago... from a very dear friend... a man that I was best friends with from the time I was in the 4th grade until after highschool. A combination of that email, the long chat we are having online this evening... and the song (the title of the thread) has got me thinking about the what if's in life..

do you have anything you would have done differently?

scotzoidman 10-16-2002 08:34 PM

Knowing what I know now...only nearly everything I've ever done, would I do differently...but if I did, what would I be now?

dannyk 10-16-2002 08:47 PM

As much as I would like to, proabaly not. It might mean not having and knowing the friends and loves I have now.

No, My life isn't perfect, but its good, and I am very happy with it. THere are things I regret, but I learned from them. I wouldn't change anything.

RandyGal 10-16-2002 09:44 PM

I would change a lot....I'd make different, better choices..things that I'm starting to do NOW.

I'd think different and I'd probably behave different. (I happen to LIKE this me, and I'd stop hiding it from everyone else...my mom knows it's in there but I'm fairly sure the rest of the world has no idea who the REAL ME is.)

Oh, and I'd stop being embarrassed about who I am too. :)

RandyGal 10-16-2002 09:45 PM

p.s. that is INCREDIBLY cool those of you who say you're happy right where you are.

Wow!

I can't imagine that sense of contentment..and I envy you. :)

scotzoidman 10-16-2002 09:56 PM

Did I say I was happy with where I am? Nah, in the words of Steve Earle, I ain't ever satisfied...

Oldfart 10-17-2002 03:32 AM

It's not that I'm specially happy, just afraid of who and what I'd

be if anything had been changed.

Afterwards it is always easy to say what to have done differently. I would have banned my wife out of my life.

bigmack 10-17-2002 08:23 AM

Well Jenna as I am quite possitive I am the one that got away lets not look at all the what ifs in our past we both made mistakes. Lets look instead to the what will be's of the future....By the way this is Richard ie..... fourth grade crush ;)

Murphy 10-17-2002 08:37 AM

Wouldn't change a thing. not even my first marriage...if it hadn't been for the path I've trod getting here, I wouldn't have learned the lessons that made me what I am today.

I have to agree with Nuelaan!Thinking back;all of the things;that you didn't enjoy then or regretted;were actually fun and part of the learning process. All in all;I'm fairly happy;with how things have turned out!Life has had;MANY rough spots;but it's how you handled(sp) them that counts! Irish
P.S.Sometime;think back;to the people voted; Most Likely to Succeed;in High School.MOST of them are failures now.Look at the people;most likely to fail(Me).The results are different;when you have to do things yourself;and not handled by rich parents!

I wouldn't change any of the big things, but I would have said yes (to myself and to opportunities) a bit more then I did .... would like to have been a little less concerned about what other people think and a bit more concerned with who I want to become.

vampeyes 10-17-2002 10:32 AM

I think there are things things that I would want to change but I am not sure that I would given the consequenses it would ultimately have...
