Thank you, I hadn't heard.

A remarkable fellow. He not only served 1916 expedition into Mexico and saw action on Saipan in the South Pacific in WWI, but then had a second career at the NIH, from which he retired as chief of guards in 1970.

Colin Powell, then chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, dedicated a monument to honor the Buffalo Soldiers in 1992 at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan.
