I go every six months for a checkup and a cleaning. Knock on wood, I've only had a couple of very small cavities in the last 10 years. Not really a problem with me.

I remember one time when my dentist was filling one of those, I suddenly heard him chuckle ... which is when I realized I was dozing off. He admitted, that didn't happen real often.
