Burning leaves! 
I remember the smell of burning leaves in the air when everyone raked their tiny city lot leaves into the red brick street and burned them. Now outlawed many years ago.  That smell is one of those neck snapping triggers to see where it's coming from for me. Every time I see one of those 'scented candle' booths in the store I look to see if someone has come up with that scent. Not yet!
