Spontaneity is definitely the key.

If he's normally the dominant one, it's easy to turn the tables occasionally and surprise him. I "Raped" a certain someone the other night, which is not at all like me usually, but we both loved it, because he wasn't expecting it and I got a kick out of surprising him.
