{I've been away for a few days from the board, but for some reason I need to get on the soapbox...}

I'm surprised that you have confused this forum with a democracy. It is not, nor can it be in its current form.

Alas, but that's the way it is. Accommodate this and the other limitations you’ll find here, or take you polls elsewhere.

Jseal, thank you for stating that. This seems to be the great mis-conception on each and every message board that I have visited. The posters, for some reason, feel that they are within some artifical right to be able to post what ever it is that they want. In reality, these boards are targetted to a specific audience and specific topic. The moderators are there to make sure that things stay within the guidelines and when they decide to pull something it is their decision alone. There are no "maybes" or "grey areas" when it comes to this. If they deem the content to not be appropriate for the message board they have the option to remove it.

Quoting directly from the forum rules, that each member agreed to when joining the board, "The owners of Pixies Place Forums have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason." The moderators, as such, are those that look out for the interests of the owners of the board. So... if your thread was removed... Do you have to like it? No. Is there anything you can do about it? No. Is it better to just leave it alone, or maybe engage the moderator in a private discussion instead of posting a thread about it? You bet.

That said, I did not have a chance to see the original "offending" thread. But I have been reading enough threads on this site to be able to say (as a somewhat conservative individual myself) this site does indeed allow for a lot more discussion of things before they get "sanctioned" by a moderator. From what I have seen, over the past year or so, the mods here are pretty even handed and should be praised for their involvement in keeping this forum well managed.

Finally, if you really can not stand the attitudes of those on this board then please feel free to move on. Otherwise, stick around and get to know the people that post here. I think that, in the end, you'll see that the folks around here do seem to be pretty good people (even the mods ).

{OK, I'll get of the soapbox now, g'night}
