Almost had those feelings once when our car was rear-ended and the back bumper was pushed up to the back seat (it was a station wagon). We were hit from behind while we were doing 45 (the speed limit). Thank heavens, neither my wife or I were actually hurt although three of the four doors of the car wouldn't open, and several pieces of the car were scattered everywhere.
When we did get home ...
I held our kids and cried. (I know that's not macho, but I did it anyway)
I realized more than ever just how much I loved my wife and I found myself wanting to hold her close whenever I could.
I liked talking to friends and relatives because it had been made clear just how quickly everything could change.
I guess if tomorrow were the day, I'd want to do some of those same things. Plus ... give all you a hug at the same time!
