Find out what he likes - is it just occasional tying up? Or does he like to be humiliated and degraded? Is he talking about only when you have sex, or constant, round the clock power play? Does he want to be spanked/whipped/punished? Does he want you to have control of whether he is allowed to orgasm or not? Does he want you to wear a strap-on and take him from behind?

Get him to make a list of things that would turn him on, and pick and choose which ones you feel comfortable doing and slowly ease into it.
