Irish --- It's true, even with the diabetes I do get to indulge in sweets on occasion. I have to do 4-5 blood tests, 6-8 insulin injections, and take 4 pills a day for the diabetes itself, not to mention other medications for various (as yet minor) complications, but on special occasions I do splurge and have another dose of insulin to go with a special dessert or a particularly high-carb meal. I do exercise as well --- as you say, it's important for blood sugar control. Sadly, though, I still can't have ice cream or cheesecake (another former favourite dessert) because I'm also lactose intolerant (I can't digest the form of sugar that's found in milk products). Ice cream and other milky foods make me very sick... Not pleasant at all. But thanks so much for the suggestion!
