I think the thing is that women set more store by romance than most men do, therefore, they are encouraged to make a romantic gesture at Valentine's day.

For me personally, I really care about making valentine's day special. I think having spent pretty much all of my teenage years without receiving a Valentine, if I'm attached at this time of year, I really want to make a big deal of it. That means me cooking a meal or suggesting somewhere to go for dinner, sending cards (homemade is always good) and buying a little romantic gift for my man. Last year Fussy had black silk boxers from me, for example.
