Too true – it is easier to remain polite when within punching distance, and posters never are.

That is one of the limits of this medium; a thread terminates when someone becomes sufficiently nasty that the other thread members stop posting, or a mod has to terminate it. It tends to reward misbehavior.

Still, nothing is perfect, and I can’t think of another context where I can get the range of opinions I get here.
