If I could turn back the hands of time
to change things that battered this heart of mine
I'd dwell and I'd think, scared of the choices
afraid just to heed my inner voices
My instincts, they lied the first time around
Am I any wiser now, are my judgements more sound?
I think my time would be wiser spent,
helping friends muddle through their tougher events
Hold a hand, lend an ear.. offer solace where needed
share thoughts, shed tears and offer advice unheeded
Time has taught me, left it plain to see
My mistake more often... is focus on me.
