All true growing up for me too...and I live in a town like this now!

My favorite memory of my home town is...

Nana (my paternal grandmother) shouldn't have been driving still, with her glaucoma getting worse and worse and she was in denial about it. But, she was determined to be independent and who were we to argue with her. One day, as she was driving me back home from the local grocer's, she ran a stop sign. She hadn't been to visit in a while and they put up the sign at a road we used to just "cruise" through. I noticed she wasn't slowing as we neared it, and I figured she didn't see it, so I said, "Nana, slow down. They put in a stop sign up here. Nana...Nana...(zoom...right through it!). Nana! You just ran a stop sign". "No I didn't", she said. "Yes you did. There is one back at the corner by the Columbia Cafe" (a bar everyone knew as one of those landmarks to give directions by). "Well, there never used to be one there, so I'm not stoping at it now", she said...with all the dignity she could muster!

Thanks for the memories GCT!
