For Goodyear to quit taking away our benefits. Every damn year they come up with somethin else they think we can do with out. I think the executives need to lose an airplane or swimming pool or 2. Or cut down on their fancy parties. You think these guys are gonna have to do without like the rest of us? Hell no. If they ever increased benefits I think I'd faint! They used to match 6% of our contributions to our retirement plans. Now they've even stopped that!

A swimming pool, a gym, a personal trainer, paid trips to paradise, a new car, a new office, paid cell phone, a tanning bed, unlimited clothing allowance..... Yeah, that's what I want.
Ok, go ahead, pinch me....

I actually can't complain *too* much. I was at my position almost three years when I had to move 80 miles away. In order to keep me, I got to work from home four days a week, and they paid my internet and gave me a cell phone.
In March, when I moved back here, I negotiated with them to have them continue paying my internet and cell. Sure I work all kinds of hours...and often do a lot of work at home at night...but it's worth it for extra time with my kids.

Well the governor of this great state called his state workers (of which Mr. Lil is one) "parasites" while he continued to privatize, throwing them out in droves and stripping away or increasing deductibles/copays etc on health benefits, OT, and not giving them raises that are even comparable to the typical cost of living wages most state and other federal empolyees get. Now instead of Mr. Lil working in an office with 5 other state employees making roughly what he made, now he works with 4 contract employees making about 3-4 times what he makes. This administration loves to be able to award his friends with government contracts. And then justifies the expense by firing or pushing early retirement. LOL...I should get a job with the union...but he can say he is shrinking the government like he promised. Of course IMHO he's robbing the public to pay his friends back for their help in his campaign.
OH for Mr Lil, cause I'm a kept woman, I'd just like some respect.

The article I listed also mentioned that Microsoft is cutting back on benefits. There's something wrong in the world if one of the richest men in the world is cutting back on pennies per hour and fucking with worker morale by reducing benefits.
Shitty news about Goodyear, too, CGT.

Oh......for cryingout...heaven's to Betsy...fuckin loud!!!!!
I can't get started on this...I'll never stop!
Sufice it to say...the check I am handed at the end of a grueling work week isn't worth the powder it would take to blow it to hell! I pay for Mr. Lixy and my health benefits...and carry all the other burdens that you all carry as well. Not one single "benefit" is fully paid for by my employer and other than hospitalization, nothing is paid for hubby unless I pay it! My check is soley to INSURE that we are insured in case we need insurance which we may never need to be insured for!
Makes ya kinda googly eyed, huh?

I really can't complain, my benefits are top notch, the pay is great, the people are fun. Oh wait, I nearly forgot our office is being closed and we are being laid off or asked to relocate! That's the one downfall, although it's only really a downfall if you are madly in love with Texas and unwillinging to explore other parts of our nation.
Yes, we have the large expenditures for the executive types, and the types that just think they are golden. But all in all, the average hard working employee is treated really well compared to other companies or industries.

One of the things that amazes me about the most prosperous nation on earth is how poorly the majority of workers are treated.
Australians get four weeks annual vacation plus public holidays, it is compulsary for empoyers to contribute to superannuation (my employer pays 9%), Long service leave and redundancy.
We have a universal health cover and pharmecutical benefits that are no means perfect but are great compared to the USA.
I wonder if US Goverment decided to stop spending so much money getting involved in other countries messes and spent the money making sure their citizens were better cared for, if that would be a better use for the tax payers money?
Just an observation.

I'm well paid, have some flexiblility in my schedule and can work at my own pace. The biggest downsides are that it when it's not crazy...it's boring as hell, and that I'm sometimes in here at all hours of the night and day.
A week off without all hell breaking loose would be nice. Is that even possible?
