Naughty children lose gifts to eBay
‘I’m crying on the inside,’ Houston father says as tree comes down
The Associated Press
HOUSTON - The kids were naughty, Dad put the presents on eBay instead of under the tree — and Mom’s been crying ever since. |

	| You know, one of the things that bothers me is the parent saying to the kid in public, "If you don't stop X (or do X), then I'm going to do Y". Over and over again. Instead of doing Y.
Really does nothing but reinforces the idea that the parents are quite willing to lie in order to try and modify the kid's behavior.

A request was made for the kids to change their behavior, then a warning was given, then consequences were announced, and the kids still didn't.

This is discipline, and it doesn't involve relatively ineffective violence to the kids.

 More power to the parents.

	| I am a firm believer in the follow through. If I say it, that's what happens. But sometimes the consequences are almost harder on me than them. Nothing like finally sticking to your guns and having it make the news. |

	| I bet the words "double dare you" are going to be viewed with a new reverence.
Even if the threat was a bit heavy, the kid didn’t leave but a total win or lose situation after that.

	| I read this, but I wonder....Is this just a scam? Look how much that stuff sold for! I might decide to sell my "kids'" birthday presents on ebay in 2005 lol

	| I saw in the paper that a casino somewhere agreed to buy the toys & donate them to a needy family in Houston, if the parents agreed to donate the money to charity, which they did...
 Tough love, indeed...

	| I have a friend that has children that are frequently out of hand. When the children misbehave he often threatens punishment ranging from going to bed early to a spanking... then he counts to 3... then he threatens again... never really follows through though. Lo and behold, his kids still misbehave.
This guy did alright as far as I'm concerned.

HOW TRUE!I always followed through. As said, sometimes it's harder on you.
My daughters are in their 30's now, both divorced, but always send their kids
to me.My Grandkids love me(I thought that they would hate me)because they
RESPECT the fact that you mean what you say.The same held true,in the
motorcycle lifestyle. You can be nice, but have the reputation of being FIRM!
