Sadly, I think my household income for 2004 was about the same as the median for 1970...I also remember 1970 as the year of the Kent State shootings & CSNY's response to it, "Ohio"...there was a pic on the cover of Newsweek showing a teen girl kneeling & screaming over the body of one of the victims...turned out that girl was a runaway & not nearly old enough to be a student, she was the same age as I was...

The summer of 1970 I was 16 a fun time
I remember gas at 22cents a gal. in Okla.
cigarettes at .25 cents a pack for Old Gold brand
a quart of Falstaff beer about .85 cents
I was making about $1.25 an hour framing houses
