Sounds to me like some kind of a tension problem. Perhaps you should try some relaxation techniques. It may help you to get into a calmer mindset.

Ranger1930,

You can follow these links to see if your issue seems to be “Restless Leg Syndrome”.

I'm sure that there are people more knowledgeable than me, but meditation and basic yoga are two that I know about. Yoga isn't all about getting your feet behind your ears - learning some simple breathing techniques etc can make a real difference - I'm sure there is plenty on the www about it.

Question

Ranger1930---Could it be nerves?
Ex:When I drag-raced motorcycles,at the dragstrip,I shook,like a
leaf, until I was "staged".Then,I was like you, poured ice water over my head.I can only attribute it to nerves. It never happened,
during street-races!They are illegal & I was too busy looking around,to get nervous! It sounds like nerves to me.I would consult
with a medical person.If you do something,that is life-threatening,
you don't want any nerve relaxors>(tranquilizers) Irish
P.S.Suggestion---I workout daily. It tires out your muscles. You say that you're a big guy,so that might help!

Eh I dunno if it's the same thing I bounce my knee. I do it always, when I'm tired when I'm happy, when I'm eating...

The restless leg syndrome and Periodic Limb Movement is usually seen in the evening and late night......... my grand father had it, my dad has it..... they described it as "my legs are running a race with out me" the muscles jumping and contracting, usually the calf muscle and quad. tho my DW says that RLS feels more like bugs crawling under the skin..... >UCK!<

Always

Just wondering how long you've been doing this? It could just be a habit that you have become so accustomed to that you now do it subconsciously!

I bite my cheek....and when I discover I'm doing it...it annoys me and I stop. Been doing it for as long as I can remember.

I think it has something to do with my lack of patience. Your leg fidget could have something to do with patience or the lack thereof too! It's a way for me to be doing something.....ANYTHING....other than saying...."Hurry up, damn it"....whatever the circumstance is. Playing cards is an especially nerve wracking time for me!

Just a thought!

*bites my cheek while waiting for an answer*....LOL!

As odd as this will sound, Whenever I'm nervous, or anxious, I always notice that I'll be sitting at a table with family eating dinner or whatever, and I'll have my arms crossed in front of me, And I'll catch myself pinching my nipples.

I mean, thankfully, nobody's caught me ding it yet, but it's still aggrivating to know that I'm doing it. lately, I haven't been able to relax at all, quit worring, and stop pinching my nipple.

So, i guess now, I've started doing it out of habbit. I did it not knowing I was doing it when i was nervous, but now, I can be at home watching a movie, and I'll catch myself doing it too. I guess it's turned into habbit.

Do you think your leg shaking is a habbit, or a responce to a physical probelm?

Because if you decide it's a habbit, you can stop the problem yourself. You just have to train yourself.

Me? I'm just not willingt to untrain myself from pinching my own nipples.

I think it's a kind of comfort thing with some people. My mother has a habit of kind of fiddling with her eyebrow, and I think it's just a comforting habit with her.
