Thumbs up Oz the Great and Powerful

I enjoyed this film when I watched it this afternoon.

It is set a s a prequel (20 years or so) to the novel “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” and has many references to the 1939 “The Wizard of Oz”. I thought the principle characters, the Wizard and the Three Witches, were played well, and the special effects weren’t overwhelming or distracting.

Recommended.

Thanks, jseal. We hadn't decided on the show yet, but, your recommendation increases the likelihood that we will go.

I'll no doubt thoroughly enjoy at least the popcorn (and probably the show too).

We went yesterday and we did enjoy it very much. Probably wouldn't rate #1 for the year ... but I'd give it a 7/10 anyway! Worth going to if you liked the original Wizard of Oz movie!
