Men...what do you notice about a woman's place the 1st time you visit?

After reading the "women's" thread I realized that at some times in my life I wouldn't have gotten a second date from a couple of women. In fact, during some really hectic times, I think that the "Exit Watcher" might have just bolted. Too bad though, like pictures, those times are really only a snapshot of what my life is really like.

So...what do guys look for the first time at a women's home?

Tidiness is more important than perfect cleanliness. My tolerance for rough edges is pretty high. But if things around the house seem to all just put down
not put away, it does set me off. Since I work outside, I might have a bit of dirt or sawdust on me. In a super tidy house, I feel a bit edgy.

The book and music collection have always given insights. Have the books been read or just collected? Do our music tastes overlap?

Pets...I've been around "Love me, love my pet" women. That wasn't a great way to start. Puts everyone else second to the pet. Don't get me wrong, I like pets. I have a cat and would love to have a dog. But, they're pets not children.

What room is "home"? The best is a great-room or den, even the kitchen. If it's the living room and too formal, I wonder...How is the bedroom setup? Crash pad, lioness lair, throne room or home? Head board, four poster. Mirrors.

Since I'm a shop/garage guy, what does her garage look like? Tools, especially power tools are a plus. How are the skiis, tents and camping gear stored?

if there are kids, how do they function in the house? Involved or is Mom their servant?

Tom

Books and Music are a big thing for me. If there are kids, I pay attention to how they interact with Mom and if they have any manners.

Her boobs.

Well, that and just the "feel" of the house. Not feng shui as much as if it feels nice, comfortable and inviting.

I'm an old fashioned guy..I don't read instructions, let alone books,lol..If the place is kept like a shrine,I get edgy,too..When I'm working on,or fixing something,it's likely to get messy,so I like a place that has a "lived in" look.Plenty of time to clean up,but being spontaneous is important, and that's hard to be when living in sterile conditions.Music collection is nice to see.You can tell a lot about someone's personality,by the music they listen to.
If there are kids involved,I look for interaction, also. If the kids run Mom,I start poppin rolaids, and go home,lol..If it's decorated with really lacey stuff,it's a turn off to me..So,by my attitude, you can see that I don't get to see the bedroom a lot,so I have no opinion there. As long as there's a place on the headboard,to fasten the cuffs..

Would this be to your liking? I've decided to make it a permanent part of my decor.

well my two longest relationships were with a stoner girl and a religious artsy girl lol both had very amusing rooms,

as for what would turn me off about a place gee golly I don't know, I don't mind a bit of clutter,

lol now if I walk into a girls room and see lots of anime and gamer gear then I know I"m in a good place lol

First thing I tend to notice is what sort of books lay around. But Inccubus is right, if there's a bunch of game stuff and anime, then that's a major plus.

Well the first thing that happens when that door opens for me is the smell. Is her smell of her place pleasant, nasty etc. Personally my sense of smell is one of my greatest assets, and ooo it's a big turn on for me if I smell something that is very pleasant (no need to go overboard with the perfume here ladies).

As for seeing things, the obvious one would be how clean/messy it is. I'm not a neat freak myself but as long as it looks like it belongs where it is i'm fine with that. I'm a very functional oriented guy, so mismatched things don't really bother me.

Upon entering her room I look where her bed is, (does it have room for 2? heheh j/k) but another big thing is jewelry, whether it's layed out or boxed etc. Tells me a lot about her, whether she's a "princess" on the inside or not. After that, photos of family, friends, ex's etc. as they often are great conversation starters and tell me what she did to her ex's lol.

I put my jewelery in a (free) plastic electronics component storage box....I like all the cubbyholes. What does that say about me?

You had me at "free"

If I see creative re-uses it is a check in the plus column. To me, it says a lot

One time I was driving with a new girlfriend. Ahead of us, at the end of the driveway was a pile of stuff for the trash. She urgently had me pull over and stop so that she could look through what was there. when she jumped back in she was a little embarassed. We'd only been dating for a little while and she didn't know me too well. She didn't want me to think that she was a garbage picker. What I didn't tell her is that I had stopped earlier to look over the same pile

By way of explanation I told her that the only thing that would have made the stop any cooler was if she were wearing a "sexy little nothing" with a wolfish grin. that is so exciting to see someone who follows Re-use, Re-duce, Re-cycle.

I notice the scents first like the aromas of incense, scented candles, and the lingering traces of perfume or shampoo in bathrooms and bedrooms. Clutter is always good too because it gives the place a lived in feel and not some sterile or generic straight out of the catalogue look.
