Forty Shades Of Green
Did spring explode for you this year? It is now expanding for me with most everything lush and green for the past week. Two weeks ago, the nude gray and brown sticks of winter matched most of man’s structures. The drab colors were everywhere, in spite of the fact one of our mildest winters ever was drawing to an end. It was not a single spike of temperature that launched the transition as both air and ground averaged considerably above the norm.
The bulbs, corms and tubers are the first to push through the crinkled leaves of a year past with Tulips, Daffodils, hyacinths and crocuses often poking through the snow in my area. THEN!.......... within a few days, all the trees and shrubs turn first a light green hue and by the hours become a true green. Did this seem to happen at an accelerated rate for you this year? The traditional blooming of spring appeared to occur within 72 hours this season. From basic winter to full blown spring in three days.

I am LOVING spring!! Central Florida where I'm from is nothing to get excited about. Living now in north Georgia is just one breath-taking scene after another. Everywhere we go it's like were in the country and the flowers and trees are just amazing. the best was when the purple Wisteria popped up all over the place. It only lasted a little over a week and my Sweetie captured them on their most perfect day with his camera.

PF ... not just the Lixy gene ... but you got pretty close to poetic as well ... here it's green all year round, but at the end of spring the ice plants go into bloom and hillsides everywhere are covered in this beautiful pinky-purple color ... it hasn't happened here just yet, but should be happening any day now ... as soon as we have a few non-cloudy days in a row ... and then the bougan villa (sp??) usually start blooming soon afterward and rows of bushes/trees will be in the bright fuschia color (as well as other colors) ... I love all the colors ... if it were anything other than nature, it might be garish ... but never that when it happens naturally!

The neighborhood looks SO MUCH nicer now that the houses have flowers out and the trees have leaves.
