Did something for the first time today ...
Our new neighbors came over. They decided they couldn't make it, so they gave my wife and I tickets to attend an opera in Peoria. First time either of us have ever gone to an opera. Seats were delightful ... center of the theater 10 or so rows back. There was quite a good crowd.
The opera was called Lucia di Lammermoor and it was really very good! The director directed the Metropolitan Opera of New York for 23 years and has done the same in Europe, Asia and South America. Really a class act.
Never thought I'd enjoy opera or say good things about opera, but I'm glad now I was open to trying it. It was a love story that took place back in 1688-89 in England.
Peoria Civic Center theatre did it very nice. The singing was in Italian, but they were able to project on a screen set high above the stage the lyrics. Made it very easy to follow.
Any of you ever attend an opera? What was your reaction?
