Boys Don't Make Passes
at girls who wear glasses....
Is that true? Do you think the old saying stems from the suggestion that typical men don't want a "bookish" women? Do you think it was meant to suggest that men feel intimidated by smart women or do you think it is speaking strictly in terms of looks?
This saying has always intrigued me because I'm really not sure which sex is being insulted. Are men supposed to be that insecure? Is a woman needing corrective lenses considered less attractive in general?

Lil, I suspect that this saying is about as old as the invention of spectacles. And the first spectacles were quite ugly.
Also, notice the expression refers to "Boys" and "Girls", not men and women. What the hell do little boys know anyhow???
I don't think there is any reason for women to fear being rejected for wearing glasses. I'd hit on you in a heartbeat Lil, with or w/o the glasses.

I've always found glasses extremely attractive, on both men and women.
As a child I always wanted to wear glasses, and then a few years ago, I was prescribed them for working with computers.
I haven't noticed that I'm treated differently by men whether I'm wearing my glasses or not, but I know that I'd find it a turn on, if a guy thought I was sexy in my specs.
Have just got some new ones actually, and I'm desperate to show them off....perhaps I'll have to take some pics and you can tell me what you think!

My wife wore glasses when I met her on a blind date back when I was in High School and I wouldn't trade her for anything.

Not that I'm insinuating that I don't wanna see Loulabelle's new pictures, but for me...it's the person behind the glasses, the one wearing the clothes, the voice behind the lips that makes me swoon.
I was sad when I was first told I needed to wear glasses. I saw it as a sign I was getting older, but because I never thought I was cute...I didn't worry about losing my desirability!

I know for a fact that when you're young boys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses. I wore glasses starting my second grade until I was a Senior in high school. I hated them! Whenever I lost the glasses and got contacts......here they come!
But then again I live in a world of rednecks so looks was everything.
Can't you just see Daisy Duke in a big pair of glasses?

I have worn glasses since I was 14. Never had much problems finding a date or a couple of husbands.
