"Valentines Day is all about sex, romance and intrigue, which isn't a pop to grandson thing!"

I tend to think Valentines day isn't really a kid thing...although I will admit that I did give the little paper Valentines as a kid...I wouldn't have expected anything from Grandpa.
I can never resist the urge to spoil my cousins rotten and buy them lots of goodies...but most of the time not for specific holidays (except birthdays and Christmas)

I really have always felt it was centered on the ladies. Big and little. When it’s the birthday of one grandchild, I don’t get the same for the others. It’s a special day for that person and in this case, it’s special for the ladies. I actually think it could instill a little respect for the other half of the world for a little boy. He gets his share (plus) of ‘special things’ when he and my son spend time together.
And he gets and sees hugs between the three of us. I don’t think a gift for my grandson would get me a restraining order. LMAO But I don’t mind him learning that there IS something special about just being a girl and it’s just different than the ‘special’ part of being a boy.

It does a kid good to get left out....cause thats the real world i believe....Ya dont get everything everytime...thats life
They will learn that they're not missing out all together....just that sometimes someone else gets something and they dont....but there will come a time when they'll get something and the other wont

My wife and I exchange Valentine's Day cards and gifts and we usually give cards to our kids/grandkids and for some friends. But in your first post, PF, you asked about dads on Mother's Day. That, I've left for the ladies ...

My parents and grandparents never gave us gifts for Valentine's Day. The next present-giving time is Easter for them.

I don't recall getting Valentine's Day gifts as a child from my parents. I know my grandparents definitely did not - we only got gifts from them for Christmas. If I did get something from my parents it was only because my Mom found something that she couldn't resist. But I'm inclined to think of Valentine's Day as a gender neutral holiday.

My boy students will all get Valentine's from me. It may be the only one they have or will ever get. They just need to know someone cares.

For me - this holiday is for the ladies in our lives. I did the exchanging of paper cards while in grade school but as I grew older realized the spirit of the holiday was to show appreciation for that special lady in your life.
I'd prefer to not get anything myself.

I'd really rather just skip the entire thing...I don't get Valentine's gifts, not even when I was married.

Just my opinion, but...
If Valentine's day is just for the "ladies"...why did they make us write out all those itty, bitty cards and put them in EVERYONE'S "mailbox" on the front of their desks in elementary school? I get Mr. Lixy a card and "special dessert" at the very least.
I think everyone can enjoy a little reminder of being loved every now and then. No gender is immune!
BTW PF? Who asked you why you didn't get Quinn something? And...how old is Quinn? Old enough to distinguish what grandpa might consider a "ladies" holiday? If not...his wittle feelings were hurt!
Sorry...I have to be honest though...ya know?
