Yeah I know, sounds unusual but I'm in a fix and Lord knows I can't think of a more informed panel of folks anywhere so I thought I'd share this to see if help is available from any of my friends here. Ya see about 3 years ago thanks to an amazing series of events, we discovered my daughter had a tumor on her pituitary gland and her growth hormones were dispursing at an incredible rate. (Surely you remember Andrea the Giant.... same disorder) Anyway.. we got medical attention and all's well now. She's a healthy happy teenager with one distinct drawback. Her shoe size is a whopping 15 men's. Yep, for the last couple of years we've only been able to find her shoes to fit in men's sizes. This has worked well for her as she's not a dress up fan anyway but she's a junior this year and there's the prom to think of. I've searched high and low for women's shoes to fit her and come up with zilch. I know somebody somewhere makes them but so help me I can't find them. Do any of you have a clue where to get her some ladies shoes and while I'm at it have her measured because ordering needs to be accurate with width and instep. If I seem desperate I am... I so want her to have the option of attending this traditional event as seemingly normal as possible. Men's sneakers won't seem normal.

Check to see if you have a custom shoe store, I think if you look up Orthotics you may find something. One of my friends has one foot bigger than the other so he gets custom dress shoes made, not cheap though.

its my only thought , I know it to be expensive but have you checked around you area for a shoe maker to make her a dress shoe...or a leather shop? My only other thought is to call the shoe companies (that make dress shoes) and ask if they can make one that size. sorry this is all i can find out for you and all i can think of ........... i have asked a few of my lady friends and they had the same ideas as me ............

so i think that makes her a size 13, or would it be 17, women's? i did a search on google for size 13 and 17 women's dress shoes and got quite a few hits. one of the better ones...

We've talked of this before Bear and I can still understand your concern. I'm not sure, but couldn't she be measured at an athletic shoe store. Some of those athletes go off the scales in shoe size, and someone has to be able to measure them. At the least, you could talk to the manager and get him/her to suggest something. Or, maybe even you family doctor could suggest where she can be measured. Nothing worse than a pretty shoe that hurts. You don't want to take it off, but it's killing you! Yikes!

As much as I appreciate the finding of that site I'd already checked it and in her size they only have a few select styles and the least heel they have for her size is a 4" heel. She's always worn flat shoes, you think sticking her in a 4" heel would be fair? Not to mention she's 5' 10" tall and the guys hoping to dance might be intimidated by the extra height. Sorry if I seem to be picky but I'm thinking a simple flat pump is the way to go but it also seems the most elusive target. Thanks a ton for the help. Love You folks.
