Go and buy some wallpaper remover. You mix it up with water and soak the paper. The paper bubbles up from the wall and it is easy to scrape off in big pieces. The trick is having the patience to let it soak in.

I've been scoring it and soaking it and now am using the absolutely most appropriate tool for the job....a spatula  I tore 3 holes in the drywall being in a hurry

Lil if its vinyl paper you have to pull off the vinyl layer first and then remove the backing left on the wall with the method I mentioned

Right! TY BIBI, I know you are right...That is what I'm trying to do...I did not buy remover because the last time I found it really not any more effective than water, but this time I may have to go get it. It's soooo hot and with the ceiling fan on the liquid is evaporating and drying instead of soaking in good!
Oh and well patience is REALLY not my strong suit.
I don't know why I thought I'd actually get to paint today

Sounds like it's been painted over some of the layers. You can rent a special wallpaper steamer that dose a great job.

LOL...smart ass...they were sun and moon mirrors left over from the celestial theme my room was...I was moving them out of the room when I stopped to take the pics.
