OK, that is enough! Now I am not old - only 58, however can remember a lot of "fun" things from the late 40's and earlier 50's.

Thanks for the memories!!

I don't but my husband does...but he lived in a more rural area than I. And he's only 2 yrs older than I..he's 55.

No, they didn't sell car parts, but they did have a machine where you could test your radio tubes and buy new ones from the bin in the bottom.

Yes...we had to heat with coal and coke.....had to buy a mix. Coal was harder to start but lasted longer and Coke started faster but burned down quickly.

Remember using the ashes on your icy sidewalks? Or having to sift out the "clinkers"?...

Neighbor had a water pump...I remember playing with it when I was 2 or 3...

Also remember the TV/radio tube testing machine...
Wish I could find one today..I have a 1938 Philco floor shortwave radio...it still turns on...but needs new tubes...

Murphy---I grew up in New England!When;Iwas a child;almost
every weekend;my folks;and I;would pack a lunch;and take"day
trips."We always packed a lunch;and ate at roadside rest areas;
because we had no money to eat out.In those days;you couldn't
go anywhere;without seeing those"Burmashave" advertisement;
signs.I appreciate now;that altho;my folks;had no money;we still
did things as a family ;all of the time. Irish

When resistors were the size of your little finger at best and they had all the “fire bottles” before that funny thing with the “3” wires. OLSEN was the biggest competition to them.

Nop! Don't remember that either.
