Question Johnny Cash, Musical Hero?

I just watched a show on BBC about Johnny Cash, its just over a year since he passed away, now i think he is a musical genius and should be hailed as a god like person?

actually... it isn't over a year yet... he died in September 2003 (the morning I left on my cruise, so I remember). He is getting alot of attention right now because he would have been 74 this week...

Musically... he is definetely a hero... he changed country music in ways that forged the way for other entertainers... he balked at the system... did it his way... kept his integrity in tact... and came out above the rest..

Don't know that I would have called him a "god," but I certainly think he was a marvelous country talent and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to him a lot. Hard to think about him being gone.

smithy020,

Mr. Cash was a very successful C&W star. The test of time usually takes a few years. Be patient. Time will tell.

Sharni,

I suspect you're correct about Mr. Cash.

I saw that program as well, apart from his music what about the man. Last of the great rebels?
Always a hero to me and my generation for both his music and what he stood for.
