Do they insinuate this charge will be on your phone bill? If so I would think a call to your phone company would take care of it. Must happen to people often. I have cable and have not heard of this problem.

There is another going around. It claims to be from your bank and asks for account details. It has been hitting Australia.

I got that one, Catch22. Got suspicious when I received an email from a bank that I'm not a customer of, They use a flaw in Internet Explorer to direct you to a site that appears to be legitimate but in fact is not.

Thanks for everyone's responses. I'm trying to get the phone company to look into this. I had never heard of such a thing. I guess you live and learn I just hope no one else makes the same mistake as i did>

Wonder which bank it was that was on TV?
The big Four have known about this problem since August, two of which took 2 months to put up an alert on their sites.

Well it looks like I may come out ok after all, phone company doesn't have any record of the call being made. My ISP rep told me that my computer probably had spyware on it. Not knowing what this was, I was told that some website installed like a virus and that everything I do online is capable of being monitored, credit card purchase, signing on to pay per view websites and all kinds of viruses. There is a software that i'm going to get that will keep this from happening again! I hope some of you maybe learned from my mistake and lack of knowledge of all the BS that can be pulled on you without even realizing it.

The spyware and trojan situation is a much worse problem to me than spam emails. I can easily avoid opening an email but the damn spyware is sneaky as hell.
