Van Helsing
Went to it with hubby just now. Now, there were plenty of parts where I think they tried to hard to make it funny, which made it come off as a comedy. It's obviously not supposed to be a comedy, so the overall effect was rather weak and wasted, while making those scenes just nose dive.
The plot was fairly predictable, even to me, which is saying something, because I rarely catch the whole plot like that, and two major points were pegged before it was halfway through.
It was good though, and well, DAYUM Kate Beckinsale looked fine. I want her outfit she wears through most of it. Thigh high boots with gold buckles and heels, black leather corset that ends under her bust, with lots and lots and lots of metal clasps, skin tight pants, and a borelo jacket. VERY NICE.

I took my boys to see it today, they are 15 and 12 and were totally engrossed. I myself liked it okay and I appreciate humor in any movie, even one like this..forget Kate...I was engrossed with Hugh Jackman...mmmm mmm mmm!!

I wouldn't turn down Hugh in bed, either. I was almost devestated by the near accident he had with the carriage. The thought that there would be no more lil hugh's running around! EEP!

I haven't seen it yet... but hope to do so... the commercials give me a "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" feel... not sure why tho...
Hugh Jackman is a fine... fine... FINE male speciman... not only in the looks department.. but more importantly... his absolutely incredible personality... nice to see such a down to earth guy make it in such a cut throat industry.

I was so looking forward to seeing this on opening night, but my friend couldnt' make it, so pushed it off to Monday. Anyone see the behind the scenes hour long special on the Sci Fi channel last Sunday? Was pretty good, talked about the history of the various monsters in folk lore and history, as well as the movie.
On a side note...mmm...Kate Beckinsale *Homer Simpson drool action*...first Underworld, and now this...I think she should be permanently swathed in tight fitting leather and corsets from now on

Yep, she will, though for me, the outfit in this one was far more flattering. Plus, I just love the long hair.

Saw it twice this past Sunday. Enjoyed it as it was. I'm sure it could have been tweaked a bit more. But, I liked it. I did see the behind the scenes special you mentioned. That was interesting.
