Help, I think I'm addicted!
Horrible stuff! You wouldn't believe my weekend! Rotten, rotten, rotten!
I started a book Friday morning, 451 pages. Had it finished at about 7 that night. Started one when we laid down Friday night, that was 401 pages, didn't sleep, finished it at about 7am saturday morning, then slept. Started a new one saturday afternoon, 368 pages, finished it Saturday night. Started a small one Sunday morning, about 200 pages, finished it around 1am this morning, and started a new one immediatly after, about 450-500 pages. Finished it about 30 minutes ago.

Oh, yeah, got another one I want to start today, around 400 pages. I'm willing to bet I'll have THAT done before tomorrow morning, too.
I've always been a reader, but this is just weird. I can't go 20 minutes after finishing a book before I go on a mad search for another one.

I was like that for a week during my Christmas break, an absolutely voracious reader.
I chalked it up to a manic phase

Have you been making a mountain out of your mashed potatoes too Gilly? There’s nothing wrong with compulsive behavior. Nup. Not a thing. Nup. Nup. Not a thing. Not a thing…………..:dizzy:

Dear Gilly,
Considering all possible addictions, reading isn't such a bad one to have. Of course, by definition, an addiction becomes harmful when it has negative effects in your life, soul, heart, and mind. When reading begins to pull away from usual life tasks and activities, then you might have an addiction in need of modification.
I bet you have lovely breasts...would love to see them .

i've done the same thing, gilly. i'll blow off almost anything to finish a good book. at least you have the satisfaction that it's better than sitting around and playing mind wasting video games or doing nothing at all.

I have know me go out and buy a new book at lunchtime and finish reading it at suppertime - gets frustrating and expensive reading them that quick.

Try reading slower Englishlush. You'll remember it and have no need to get it back from your friend.

I ery rarely buy books at full price. There's a paperback exchange in town. You take in books, they record the total price of all of them, and record it in a book. From there, you pick through the thousands and thousands of books they have in, and go to check out.
They take the amount of the book you pick, and subtract it from the amount of "money" you brought in, and then charge $1.25 for the book. If you don't have any money in your account, or no account, then the book is half of the publisher's price, or $2.50, whichever is higher.
It's a good way to find older books that are no longer published, as well.
Yard sales are a great place to pick up books cheap, too. Most times, you can get them for $.25 each, or a deal like 5/$1.
The only ones I buy brand new are the authors I follow closely, and even those I'll wait a month or two and see if they pop up at the exchange first. That is usually Johanna Lindsey, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Susan Krinard, James Patterson, and Stephan King.
I wonder how easy it would be to set up a book ring online, to just send books in a circle to people, and get one back from them.... Pondersome.

I know what you mean. We have a secondhand bookstall on our weekly market that I check out when I can. Trouble is the authors I follow tend not to appear on the stall.
