It is now Boxing day for many of our Pixies and soon will be the 26th of December for all of us. I work with numbers and normally enjoy the information and usefulness I derive. A year ago I began a thread that involved no complex calculation, but just simple counting. Not me or anyone else expected the counting to continue as it has, or the results to be as devastating.

216 x 10^3 is a functional statement of a number. 216,000 dead people, in a matter of minutes is a concept that only the surviving members of the families can ever know.

I thought about that just a bit ago after seeing something on TV about how people in devestation coped during the holiday.....I then realized I've been crying about my holiday and I have too much to be thankful for and things COULD be soooo much worse.

since today is my son's birthday, the 26th has always been a day of celebration of life. I hate to sound cold, but in the immortal words of Scarlett O'Hara, "I'll think about that tomorrow."

Yesterday was my mother's birthday as well. Bittersweet, for sure.
