We're prisoners ... updated!
Yep. Mother nature has kidnapped us right here in our own house. Between six and ten inches of snow on top of a base of sleet/ice has pretty well trapped us in our home. So far, no plows have come through to rescue us so, here we sit. At least the snow has tapered off now, so maybe in another hour or so we'll be able to get out and a shovel ourselves out.
Pictures are from inside looking out ...

I'm not looking forward to a winter full of snow, but your pictures are beautiful.
Now...do you have any from the outside looking in?

You must be close by Dicks. I just shoveled over a foot of snow off my walk. It snowed all day yesterday, and didn't stop until eleven last night.

We just had a fine dusting of snow when I got up this morning. It is gone now and the sun is shining.

Well the plows came through and even a touch of blue sky is showing through. Of course the plows left a foot or two of snow at the foot of the drive so we're still trapped ... but at least there's hope on the horizon. There was a while when we couldn't see the street in front of our house and that's only about 25' from the house.
I think we got close to 10 inches while north of Peoria they got 13 or so.
I may try to bundle up and go get some "outside" shots in a little bit (before it gets dark).
Now, it's just cold and expected to drop to around 6F tonight. Brrrrrr.

At least you have a winter wonderland over there with some modicum of pastoral beauty to be seen. Nothing but dank, depressing, chilly rain out my way.

A harsh reminder of what it will look like here within a couple of weeks. We got really lucky this time around and it went just to the south of where I'm at. Was listening to a Quad Cities radio station this morning and all of the schools in their area were closed. Missed me by about 50 miles.

Decided to go get those outside pics while the sun was still shining ...
... so here they are.
Talk about great neighbors. One from two doors down was going house to house using his snow blower to clear the snow from the base of our driveways. Probably would have taken a good hour or two to do manually and a back or so of aches.

Gorgeous photos!!!!!! Here we are having horrible freezing rain and it's going to last all through the night... It's making the trees look pretty but very fragile!

DB, where is the Snow Angel? There are times when I do love winter, and just after a snow fall is one of them. Everything is so beautiful, and the city is so quite.

I was hoping Lixy would be right over, but, I suppose with the weather they probably cancelled the flight.
