Ex-Smokers
Do you find things taste different?
It has been 3 weeks since I quit, although I did cheat a couple of times.
I'm using the patches but have to take them off at night or I have pretty weird dreams.
There are times when I really want one but the feeling dosen't last long. I think I've been crabby off and on more because of quitting too.
jay-t how is it going for you?
Anyone else?

I quit WELL OVER 35yrs ago.Two pks of Camels/day to 0!Cold Turkey.The only
thing that I've noticed is that cigarette smels are very offensive now.I've
even been at the beach & noticed that someone had a cigarette lit near me!
I used to think that smoking was "cool".Now I think that it's stupid!I started
smoking to be "one of the "cool" guys.
The 15th will be 13yrs9mo since I quit alcohol also.I don't lecture people as to
what they do.I quit things for me & mine, what others want to do is up to them! Irish

Keep it up girl. Glad to hear that you have made it this far, the worst should be over. I'm behind you 100%. I quit on 02/02/02 after 34yrs, so I understand how hard it is. Does Booger have many black and blue marks. LOL

While I've never smoked, I know my mother has said more than once that when she had quit, everything tasted sooooooooo good and she ended up gaining weight.

Very cool Irish!!!! Yes I've even noticed the smell outside as well. Can tell someone smoked where you walked by. I started smoking due to stress, that was about 15 yrs. ago. I quit drinking after I started dating Boog cause he doesn't drink. Don't miss it like I do smoking.
Thanks Scarecrow and no he don't have any black n blue marks.
Its not that things taste better, its just some things I always enjoy all of a sudden taste different. Like coffee, not sure if it was just my cup needed to be cleaned or if maybe the cheap coffee grounds were getting old. I don't find I'm eating more to make up for not smoking, I was snacking before I quit smoking.

sodaklostsoul,
Congratulations - and hang in there, it gets easier the longer it has been since your last puff.
Yes, some things will taste different. I think it is because they smell different now that your nose and sinuses are free of smoke.

Soda, keep thinking of you. Quit Christmas Eve, 1997 and haven't touched one since. Things taste better; I feel better, and the doc has given my lungs a clean bill of health (he does a stress test every couple of years to be sure). It's worth the effort and Mrs. and I are very happy that you've made it this far. Keep it up!!

I'm doing good with it have been taking chantrix ,for me that worked better than the patches. I haven''t noticed any difference in taste yet but smell things a little stronger.
As long as I stay busy I do ok but get jittery when I sit and watch tv.So I chew on a straw or something.
Good luck and try not to snap at Booger too much unless he did something.

You may remember I stopped 2 and a bit years ago. Yeah, things (food) do taste and smell better, to the extent I have put on over 2 and a half stones. (35 pounds)
I'm now in the process of cutting down, not snacking and only drinking 3 days a week - I can't (well, don't want to!) afford keeping buying new, bigger trousers!!
Good on you for stopping, though - for all the issues with my weight, I feel SO much beter health-wise!

anyone mind if i smoke?
good luck, soda!! don't forget that a good deal of a cigarette's appeal is its mouth feel, its oral stimulation - so when you're really craving a smoke, find something to put in your mouth.
like gum.

I quit two years and one month ago. It was very hard to quit but so damn worth it. Food taste better and breathing feels better. I can smell a smoker instantly now and it is so gross. I can't believe I smelled and looked that ridiculous for 23 years. Not to mention the insane amount of wasted money. Addictions are so evil and I wish you both the very best in your determination to beat this habit. You can do it!!!

Thanks Mayhem!! Hugs to you and Lizz!
Thank You jseal.
Mr. and Mrs. DB hugs to ya both!
Funny Lilith, I was thinking about odors last night, I could have sworn Boog was burning a candle but we haven't burned one in ages.
Very good jay-t.................. the only thing I did out of habit was crack my car window when I got in once awhile back. Relized I didn't need to LOL. I'm trying not to snap at Boog or the child but I was doing that before I quit smoking. Damn female crap.
Thanks DM................and WTG, I remember now that you mention it.
Soooo PF, when ya quiting?
Smoke'em if ya got'em wyndhy!!
Got any gum?
Thanks Tess....................yup, smells pretty nasty, customers walk by me and I almost wanna gag now.
Over all I'm doing pretty good. Thanks everyone.
Looks like I'm not the only one quiting.
