Did anyone else have "The Catcher in the Rye" as required reading?

Nope wasn't required reading for me in school but I did read it and enjoy it years later.

Somehow I missed out on the assigned reading of CITR, probably because my English teacher was busy assigning us Huck Finn, even tho it had just been banned from US schools; after she told about the ban by a colleague, she quickly begged the whole class to forget we'd ever heard of the book.
I could have read "Catcher" later on my own, but after some asswipe shot John Lennon & claimed that the book would explain it all, somehow the urge to read it was gone for me...
